What is
chiropractic?
Chiropractic is
based on 2 scientific facts:
1. The human nervous
system controls the function of every cell, tissue, organ and system
of the human body.
2. The human body is self-healing.
The nervous system sends electrical impulse or "Life Force"
from the brain down through the spinal cord, out nerves of the spinal
cord to all cells, tissues and organs at that level.
The brain is encased
in bone for protection. However, the spinal cord is more vulnerable
because it is protected by 24 movable vertebrae (bones of the back).
Physical, chemical and emotional stresses encountered on a day to day
basis can cause the vertebra to easily lose their normal positions and
distort posture. This causes nerve interference which disrupts proper
functioning of all cells, tissues and organs these nerves control.
What do
chiropractors do?
Chiropractic is the
science of locating "Misaligned" vertebrae and postural distortions.
Chiropractors then use their "Hands" to adjust the spinal vertebrae
back to their normal position thereby restoring proper nerve function
to the body. This allows the body to have a greater potential for health
and ensures the body is functioning at an optimum level.
Do chiropractors
treat only neck and back pain?
Patients with neck
and back pain respond very favorably to chiropractic care but chiropractic
can offer much more. By realigning your spine, chiropractic will allow
your to body to have a greater health potential and ensure your body
is functioning at a more optimal level.
Who can
benefit from chiropractic care?
People of all ages
are encouraged to get their spines checked for misalignments, just like
regular medical and dental checkups. A Doctor of Chiropractic should
be a member of every families health care team of professionals. Adjusting
techniques are modified to accommodate a patients age, size, weight,
overall health and spinal problem(s).
How can
you tell if you could benefit from chiropractic care?
Some possible signs
that may indicate spinal misalignments include a decreased range of
motion, muscle spasm, head tilt, forward head leaning, uneven shoulders
or hips, uneven shoe wear and pain. As a general rule, anything that
is neglected, will develop a problem and deteriorate. The problem is
usually silent until enough damage occurs and a crisis point is reached:
SYMPTOMS. A well maintained spine can prevent CRISIS and PAIN.
What can
I expect on my first visit?
On a typical first
visit, the doctors primarily gather information from a patient. The
doctors will perform a detailed health history, various orthopedic and
neurologic tests, perform a full spine surface electromyography (muscle
test) and x-rays (if necessary).
How much
does the initial exam cost?
Patients that visit
our web site are a given a no charge consultation, examination and report
of findings. Any x-rays taken are billed at a reasonable fee to the
patient or their insurance company.
What can
I expect on my second visit?
On a patients second
visit, they are given a full report that covers the following topics:
What is the problem?
Can Chiropractic help this condition?
How long would it take to correct the problem?
How much would it cost?
How can the patient speed up the process?
Then a patient can make an educated decision about their health, based
on the facts and not opinion.
